Start the morning at Dolce Caffe and enjoy an Illy cappuccino and freshly made croissants. Located just off the Promenade des Anglais it’s a great place to sit and plan the day.
Nearby the Dolce Caffe is Galerie Ferrero which has showcased wonderful exhibits such as Vintage photographs of Grace Princess of Monaco and Elle’s appelait Jackie photos of Jackie Kennedy. The gallery also specializes in new artists from the French Riviera. The owner Jean Ferrero was so kind to open his gallery specially for us so we could view the photographs of Grace Princess of Monaco before our flight back to the United States.
Head to the old town to see Palaris Lascaris which houses the instruments of Antoine Gautier who bequeathed his collection to the city of Nice in 1901. This seventeenth century building contains over 500 instruments making it the second most important musical instrument collection in France.
See the beautiful Matisse Museum which opened in 1963 to show his collection which was left to the city of Nice where he lived between 1918 and 1954. The location of the museum at Cimiez is near the Franciscan monastery with its beautiful gardens and the famous Hotel Regina were Matisse used to live. http://www.musee-matisse-nice.org/
